Extension Services Boost Agricultural Productivity in Plateau State
Farmers in Plateau State have reported improved yields following the expansion of agricultural extension services across farming communities. The programme provided technical guidance on crop management, access to improved seedlings, and information on market pricing.
Officials from the state agriculture ministry stated that the initiative aims to close productivity gaps by improving knowledge transfer and farmer support. The programme also emphasized climate resilient farming practices and post harvest handling.
Agricultural economists note that extension services remain one of the most cost effective tools for boosting smallholder productivity. They stress that scaling such interventions nationally could strengthen food security and rural incomes.
